The Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic has severely disrupted the Canada immigration system since restrictions were first introduced in March 2020.
Canada has certainly restricted international travel and closed the Canada-USA border. Most of the restriction measures are likely to remain into 2021.

The Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic in Canada is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was confirmed to have reached Canada on January 27, 2020, after an individual who had returned to Toronto from Wuhan, Hubei, China, tested positive.
Most of the Coronavirus Covid-19 cases are in Canada's 2 most populous provinces: Ontario and Quebec. Confirmed cases have been reported in all of Canada's provinces and territories.
Canada certainly has severely restricted its border access, barring travellers from all countries with some exceptions. The federal Minister of Health invoked the Quarantine Act for the first time in its legislative history, legally requiring all travellers (excluding essential workers) returning to the country to self-isolate for 14 days.
Canada is now experiencing a second wave of the virus. Restrictions and lockdowns are created to decrease the spread of the Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic. Vaccinations also help to reduce the spread of the dangerous virus.
