Uber stock price (NYSE:UBER) gained 20% in May 2020

Fortunately, shares of Uber (NYSE:UBER) gained 20% in May 2020. The stock gains have much to do with "better than expected" first-quarter sales. There is also the direction of the wider market. However, for the month of June 2020, uber stock decreased. The ride-sharing market seems to be rebounding from challenges created by the novel coronavirus Covid-19. Uber company is sure trying to increase Uber market share. Some of the top competitors of Uber are: Lyft, Ola, DiDi, Grab, Bolt, Yandex.Taxi, Gett, Curb, Bird and LimeRoad.

Many customers are thinking about whether to use Uber or Lyft. Uber stock (NYSE: UBER) did fall (as many other stocks also fell) since early February after the WHO declared the Coronavirus Covid-19 a global health emergency. Lyft stock (NASDAQ: LYFT) fell even worse than Uber at that time. The spread of the Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic certainly had a negative impact on the global stock market and on the ride-sharing market.

More people became confined to their houses because of lockdowns. Some people became more fearful about sharing rides with other people. Uber Eats has continued to create food deliveries through the pandemic. Customers could tell drivers to stay far away and distance themselves. Packages of food could be left near the door.

Uber certainly has better exposure to international markets than Lyft. Uber seems to have outperformed through the pandemic situation. Lyft has a relatively cheaper valuation.

  1. As of 2019, Uber was estimated to have over 110 million worldwide uber users. Alternative fascinating taxi service Uber (much-loathed by Kraków's taxi companies) is also now available in Poland, and has in fact chosen Kraków as its European hub. Uber offers one-tap, no-cash-necessary transport via their popular worldwide mobile application.

Uber is a ridesharing company that operates in over 785 metropolitan areas worldwide. Uber offers peer-to-peer ridesharing, food delivery, bicycle-sharing and ride-hailing.

Uber was initially founded in 2009 as UberCab and was changed to Uber in 2011.

Amazingly, Uber has completed more than 5 billion rides worldwide. Uber fulfills 40 million rides per month in the USA alone. Uber is currently available in more than 85 countries globally worldwide. However, there are several popular tourist countries where Uber is really not available. Check the official Uber website if you want to be sure which transportation destinations can be created.

Here are some of the countries where Uber is available:

    China

It seems that Uber is no longer available in China as of last year. However, China has its own ride-hailing app (called Didi Chuxing) or "Didi" for short. Didi's interface will look similar to what Uber or Lyft looks like. Didi successfully phased out Uber's global app late last year in China. This forced people to download the Uber China app if they wanted to continue using the service.

    India

There is Uber in India. However, it is not available completely everywhere. There are differences about how it works in India. In India, Uber drivers seem to work full-time. By the rules, private vehicles can't be used as Uber cabs unless they secure a transport vehicle permit (some USA cities require this taxi registration, also). Both Uber and Ola are popular in India. Ola Cabs is a fascinating Indian ridesharing company offering services that include peer-to-peer ridesharing, ride service hailing, taxi and fast food delivery.

    United States of America

In the United States of America, Uber had a 67% market share for ride-sharing in early 2019 and a 24% market share for food delivery in 2018. Here are some subsidiaries of Uber: Uber Eats, Careem, Uber Works, Otto.

    Indonesia

There is Uber in Indonesia. Uber’s main rival across Southeast Asia are: Grab and Go-Jek.

    Pakistan

There is Uber in Pakistan. Uber lets some riders pay with cash. It seem that in Pakistan, Uber must contend with one of the lowest Internet penetration rates in Asia.

    Brazil

There is uber in Brazil. The App now has more than 600,000 drivers registered in Brazil.

    Nigeria

There is uber in Nigeria. In Nigeria, the only 2 cities where Uber currently operates are: Lagos and Abuja. Also, Taxify has launched operations in Ibadan, Nigeria's largest city by land size, and Owerri.

    Bangladesh

Bangladesh has Uber services. Uber and UberX are both services are available in Dhaka. They are certainly available on both iOS and Android mobile devices. Uber was launched in Bangladesh in late 2016. It started its operations from November 22, 2016.

    Russia

Uber successfully launched in Moscow in 2014. Uber has a presence in various cities in Russia. There is also Uber in Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

    Mexico

Uber operates in several cities in Mexico. These cities include: Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Cuernavaca, Guadalajara, Merida, Mexicali, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla, San Miguel de Allende and Tijuana.

    Japan

Uber (UBER) launched its taxi service in Japan in May 2018. It now operates in 8 cities. Its upscale chauffeur service is called Uber Black (it has been in Tokyo since 2015).

  2. Philippines

It seems that as of April 16, 2018, uber has shut down operations in Manila. It seems to be no longer available. Grab acquired uber's South East Asian operations. It seems that Grab is currently the only ride-hailing app in Manila.

    Egypt

There is Uber in Egypt. It launched in Cairo in 2014. The company is now available in a growing number of cities including Alexandria, Hurgharda, Mansoura, Tanta and Damanhour.

    Vietnam

It is not 100% certain whether there is Uber in Vietnam. However, there is an alternative to Uber called "Grab." It seems that Grab is like the Uber of Vietnam. It is a good way to get around the larger cities like Ho Chi Minh, Danang, and Hanoi.

    Turkey

Uber's business could be finished in Turkey. Some people called for Uber to be banned in Turkey. Make sure you check if it is still available and get updated information on this. Istanbul taxi drivers called for Uber to be banned. There seems to be a conflict between taxi drivers and Uber drivers.

    Germany

Uber in Germany offers only its UberBlack limo service (known as the original Uber) and UberX/UberTaxi taxi service. It seems that Uber continues to operate in Germany and the EU only as a taxi service. The European Union certainly has different regulations for Uber than USA.

    Thailand

It seems that Uber in Thailand has shut down its app services since April 8, 2018. Check updated information about whether Uber exists in Thailand. However, there is the "Grab" company.

    United Kingdom

Uber is available in at least 20 cities in the UK, including London, Southampton, Leeds and Glasgow.

    France

There is Uber in France. An Uber app account opened in the USA can be used in France where Uber is available.

    Italy

It's possible to use uber in Italy. However, it seems to be only available in Rome and Milan. Also check if only Uber Black is available, meaning higher prices and better vehicles.

    Tanzania
    South Africa
    Kenya

Uber exists in Kenya. The Uber company charges customers in Nairobi (Kenya's capital) a minimum fare of $2.90. Uber is aiming to beat competitors by pushing its prices even lower.

    Uganda
    Argentina

    Ukraine

It seems that Kyiv is one of the few countries where you can actually request an Uber by phone by dialling 9988. Uber Launched in Kyiv in July 2016. The local competitor rival is Uklon. There are also traditional taxis. There is also another competitor: Bolt/Taxify.

    Denmark

Check more details about the current Uber situation in Denmark. It seems that Uber decided to close down its operation in Denmark because they were unable to comply with Taxi law of Denmark. Denmark does have a free market economy.
