China coronavirus death toll is 4,637

China's coronavirus death toll is now at 4,637. This is after Wuhan, where the coronavirus originated last year, has raised its official Covid-19 death toll by 50%, adding 1,290 fatalities.

China recently reported a new cluster of Coronavirus Covid-19 cases in Wuhan Monday after a month without fresh infections at the pandemic's global epicentre, as a northeastern city was placed under lockdown.

The new cases added to fears China could be facing a new wave of infections. However, some restrictions are supposed to ease in some other parts of the country.

Five new infections were confirmed in one residential district of Wuhan.

Authorities also issued stay-at-home orders and travel bans in Shulan, a city of around 670,000 people in northeastern China, after three new infections were confirmed there.

Wuhan, the epicentre of the novel coronavirus outbreak in China, reported its first cluster of infections since a lockdown on the central Chinese city was lifted a month ago.
