Netherlands coronavirus death toll is 434
The Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic has brought demand for flowers to a standstill. Those working in the Dutch floriculture industry say they are left with no choice but to destroy up to 80 per cent of total production at the peak season for Holland’s famed tulips.
Data from Germany show just 0.4% of people who tested positive for the virus have died from it, much less than the 9.5% in Italy and 4.3% in France. In the Netherlands growth in transmissions of the virus have slowed significantly.
The official name of the country is the Kingdom of the Netherlands. King Willem-Alexander is the king of the nation. Holland actually only means the two provinces of Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland. However, the name Holland is often used when all of the Netherlands is meant.
